Q: I received a message from Uber saying I need a permit. What should I do?
If you plan to operate at OAK, you must have an OAK-issued permit decal and AVI transponder for each vehicle.
A: Even if your TCP company is already approved, each individual vehicle must complete a permit appointment before operating that vehicle at the airport.
To operate at OAK:
- Your TCP company must have an approved OAK application on file., and
- Each vehicle operating at OAK, must have its own OAK permit decal and AVI transponder.
Note: You do not need to pay a new application fee for each vehicle. However, every vehicle must complete a permit appointment before it operates at OAK
Q: What is required to obtain an OAK Limousine or Charter Ground Transportation Permit?

Q: How long does the permitting process take?
A: Processing typically takes 1 to 3 weeks after a completed application is received.
Q: What happens after my permit application is approved?
A: You will receive an approval email confirming vehicle registration. A vehicle inspection appointment will then be scheduled for decal and transponder installation.
Q: Are single-day permits available?
A: Yes. Temporary Operating Permits are available for $25. Operators may obtain up to three (3) permits per calendar year. Each permit covers up to three (3) vehicles and is valid for one (1) day only.
Q: May I pick up or drop off passengers while my permit is pending?
A: At a minimum a Temporary Operating Permit is required. Otherwise vehicles must be fully permitted, display valid OAK decals, and have an AVI transponder installed before operating commercially at OAK.
Q: I have a permit from another airport. Can I operate at OAK?
A: No. OAK permits are not transferable. Operators must meet OAK’s specific permitting requirements.
Q: How do I terminate my permit?
A: Submit a Cease Operations Form and return all OAK permit decals and transponders.

Q: Are unused AdComp credit balances refundable?
A: Yes. Refunds may be requested after submitting a Cease Operations Form and returning all decals and transponders.
Q: Can I pay fees in cash?
A: No. Cash payments are not accepted. Accepted payment methods include Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express.
Q: Are fees charged for looping or re-circulating at the airport?
A: Yes. Ground Transportation Access Fees apply per trip/loop.
Q: How do I pay Ground Transportation fees?
A: Operators must maintain a valid credit card on file in GateKeeper/AdComp in accordance with Airport Rules and Regulations.
Important:
Permits are subject to automatic suspension if:
A valid payment method is not maintained, or
Outstanding balances remain unpaid
Operations during suspension will result in citation and enforcement action.
Noncompliance will be reported to CPUC or the City of Oakland Taxi Detail, as applicable.

Q: What if my transponder is damaged or lost?
A: Replacement requires a $50 non-refundable fee and must be installed by Airport personnel.
Q: What if my transponder falls off the windshield?
A: Improper removal or reinstallation may result in citations or fines. A replacement transponder ($50) must be installed by Airport staff.
Q: What if my OAK decals are lost or damaged?
A: Schedule an inspection appointment to obtain replacement decals.
Q: Is a vehicle inspection required?
A: Yes. All vehicles must pass inspection prior to receiving decals and transponders.
Q: I am selling my vehicle. What should I do?
A: Remove and return all decals and transponders before transfer. Do not sell vehicles with OAK permits and transponder equipment installed.

30-minute maximum stay
Valid waybill required

App-based pickups are prohibited
